ST. JOSEPH, Minn. – The St. Scholastica women's basketball team made the trip to St. Joseph this afternoon, taking on the Bennies from Saint Benedict's. The Saints held a five-point lead at halftime, but the Bennies got hot in the second half and were able to pull away this afternoon with a 62-45 victory over CSS.
How it Happened
St. Scholastica took an early 4-3 lead, coming off layups by Kloey Lind (Pine City, Minn./Pine City HS) and Lexi Imdieke (Andover, Minn./Andover HS), in the early moments of the opening quarter.
Hope Carlson (Proctor, Minn./Proctor HS) got her afternoon started minutes later, getting a pair of jumpers to fall as well as a three-pointer, giving CSS a three-point lead over the Bennies.
Imdieke closed out the first quarter for the Saints with a three-pointer, as the Saints trailed by just two points after one quarter.
Imdieke and Gabby Voigt (St. Michael. Minn./St. Michael- Albertville HS) opened the quarter for CSS, with Imdieke converting a three-pointer and Voigt getting a jumper to fall, as the Saints reclaimed the lead.
Carlson would score the next two field goals for the Saints, both of which were layups, as the Saints led 26-23.
CSS closed out the first half on a high note, with Imdieke once again hitting a three-pointer, as well as Lind and Voigt getting jumpers to fall, as CSS led 33-28 at halftime.
St. Scholastica continued its hot streak to open the third quarter, with Katie Vaske (Woodbury, Minn./Woodbury HS (Hamline University)) hitting a three-pointer and Lind getting a layup to fall, making the score 38-34 in favor of the Saints.
After Imdieke got a layup to go, the Bennies went on a 9-1 run to end the third quarter, reclaiming the lead with a 47-42 lead over CSS.
The Saints had a hard time finding the bottom of the net in the fourth quarter, as the Bennies were able to expand its lead to 12 points.
Jackie Johnson (Bemidji, Minn./Bemidji HS) was able to score on a three-pointer, but the Bennies pulled away in the late minutes of the game, taking today's game by a score of 62-45.

The Saints (8-11, 5-10) will be back in action on Monday, where they will host the Cardinals from Saint Mary's at the Reif Gymnasium. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
