Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Men's Soccer Dominates on the Road with a 5-0 Victory

Menomonie, WI. – The Saint Scholastica Men's Soccer team took to the road and headed to Menomonie to face off against the Blue Devils of the University of Wisconsin-Stout.

The match concluded with a dominant 5-0 victory for the Saints, who commanded the game from start to finish. From the opening kickoff to the final whistle, the Saints were in complete control, overpowering their opponents and securing a decisive win on the field.

How it Happened

First Half

The Saints started things off strong, dominating the Blue Devils on their end, registering six shots in the first seven minutes of play.

Stout would not take it lying down, getting the ball back in their possession and drilling a shot right into a Saints defender.

The Saints would get the ball back in their possession and take over yet again, clocking in 11 unanswered shots in 23 minutes. The first half ended with the Saints leading in shots (16-2), eight being on target.

Second Half

The Saints did not wait long to get things started, as only two minutes into the second half Akeen Robotham beat the goalkeeper, registering the Saint's first goal of the night. His goal was unassisted.

Following the goal from Robotham, the game went both ways, with both teams having the ball and finding opportunities on their side of the field.

Nothing would happen for another 18 minutes until Saints Forward Gabriel Marchesoni (Surrey, BC, CA) got the ball from Elijah Seehof-Flory (Minneapolis, Minn./St. Louis Park HS) and found the back of the net, putting the Saints up 2-0 in the 65th minute of play.

That was not enough for Marchesoni as only 40 seconds later, he once again beat the defense and rang in another goal for the Saints, this time coming off the assist by Parker Chastey (Duluth, Minn./Denfeld HS).

At this point in the game, the Saints were firing on all cylinders and not looking back. Ayub Mohamed (Lewiston ME/Park High School) used his speed to break the defense and goalkeeper to bring in the Saints' fourth goal of the night, driven in on his own.

Following some back and forth between the Blue Devils and Saints, the Saints would extend their lead to five coming off a goal from Lanji Atanga (Blaine, Minn./Totino-Grace HS), that being unassisted.

The Saints controlled the game as it concluded in the 90th minute. They led in shots 35-4, (20-0 SOG) as this was a dominant match defensively, as well as offensively.
