DULUTH, Minn. – The St. Scholastica women's basketball team fell tonight in heartbreaking fashion against one of its conference rivals in the Auggies from Augsburg. The Saints were down just three points at halftime, and although the Saints came all the way back to tie the game at 53-53, a buzzer beater from the Auggies made the difference with a 55-53 victory over CSS.

How it Happened
Kloey Lind (Pine City, Minn./Pine City HS) and Lexi Imdieke (Andover, Minn./Andover HS) got the offense started for the Saints this evening, with Lind scoring on a layup and Imdieke on a jumper.

Gabby Voigt (St. Michael. Minn./St. Michael- Albertville HS) scored her first points of the game that put the Saints back in front, leading 6-4 over Augsburg.

The remainder of the first quarter was a battle of defense stops, with Jackie Johnson (Bemidji, Minn./Bemidji HS) scoring the last field goal for the Saints in the opening quarter with a three-pointer, as CSS trailed 10-9 after one quarter.

Hope Carlson (Proctor, Minn./Proctor HS) scored the opening points for the Saints in the second quarter, which would be followed by a three-pointer by Imdieke minutes later, as Augsburg led 20-17.

Imdieke and Lind would both score on layups for the Saints' next two baskets, with the Saints still fighting a three-point deficit.

Successful trips to the free throw line for Johnson and Carlson would close out the first half for CSS, with Augsburg holding a 28-25 lead over CSS.

Of the Saints first four field goals to begin the second half, Lind would score three of them, all of them layups, with the other being a Carlson three-pointer, but the Auggies held a 39-34 lead over the Saints.

Two more layups for Lind to close out the third quarter for the Saints would help CSS stay within striking distance entering the fourth quarter.

After trailing by six to begin the quarter, the Saints clawed their way back to tie the game at 48-48, with help from Lind and Voigt offensively.

Once Augsburg reclaimed its lead, Voigt hit a clutch three-pointer to take a one-point lead. Johnson would score on the Saints' next possession to secure a three-point lead.

A Katie Vaske (Woodbury, Minn./Woodbury HS (Hamline University)) jumper gave CSS a three-point lead with around two minutes to play.

The Auggies found a way to tie the game at 55-55, and on the game's last possession, the Auggies hit a buzzer beater on a midrange jumper to defeat CSS by a score of 57-55 tonight.
