Early Lead Not Enough as Men’s Soccer Falls to St. Olaf

Notables

-Zuzek scores first goal of season

-Lothian records eight saves in net

NORTHFIELD, Minn. — The St. Scholastica men's soccer team traveled to Northfield this afternoon to take on the Oles from St. Olaf. The Saints took an early 1-0 lead in the first half, but St. Olaf scored three unanswered goals to defeat CSS by a score of 3-1.

How it Happened
Just three minutes into the contest, Tommy Zuzek (Lakeville, Minn./Farmington HS) found the back of the net for his first goal of the season, putting the Saints up 1-0.

In the 30th minute, the Oles were able to crack a goal, tying the game at 1-1 before the halftime mark.

Just six minutes into the second half, St. Olaf took its first lead of the afternoon, scoring on a rebound after a save by Liam Lothian (Redditch, England/RSA Academy Arrow Vale), taking a 2-1 lead over CSS.

After the Saints were handed a trio of bookings, CSS was left shorthanded after being handed a red card. The Oles took advantage of this and scored its third goal of the match, and were able to close out the match, winning by a score of 3-1.

Back at Home
The Saints (2-6, 0-3) will be back in action next Saturday, where they will be back at home, taking on Carleton at Kenny Harkins Field. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m.
