LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The St. Scholastica softball team had 12 players named Scholar-Athletes by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) for the 2022-23 academic year; it was announced on Tuesday afternoon.
Aislind Dail (Sumner, Wash./Sumner HS) and
Danielle Erickson (International Falls, Minn./Littlefork-Big Falls HS) were named for the third consecutive year.
Lizzie Gladitsch (North Branch, Minn./North Branch HS (Bethel)),
Grace Hadlich (Stillwater, Minn./Mahtomedi HS),
Lauren Laviano (Maplewood, Minn./Mahtomedi HS),
Samantha Paniagua (Corona, Calif./Centennial HS) and
Savannah Romero (St. Louis Park, Minn./St. Louis Park HS (Bethel)), and
Emma Stanoch (Bemidji, Minn./Bemidji HS) were named for the second time.
Brenna Dickmann (Pierz, Minn./Pierz Healy HS),
Payton Lang (Lakeville, Minn./Lakeville South HS), Aislinn O'Reily, and Natalie Roehel earned first time recognition.
The 12 athletes recognized are the third-most in program history, with the record of 19 set backl in 2020-21.
In order to be named a Scholar-Athlete by the NFCA, an individual must have a minimum GPA of 3.5 for the 2022-23 academic year.
Celebrating 40 years in 2023, the NFCA (National Fastpitch Coaches Association) is the professional organization for fastpitch softball coaches. Known for its highly-regarded Awards Program, the NFCA also educates and supports softball coaches on a variety of different levels: from NFCA podcasts to a comprehensive drills database, to in-person events and a National Convention.
