Minneapolis, MN. (csssaints.com) – On Tuesday, St. Scholastica split with Augsburg University when they won their first game 4-2 and lost their second game 10-2.
CSS 4, Augsburg 2
The Saints took a 2-0 lead early in the first game. In the first inning Aislind Dail (Sumner, Wash./Sumner HS) got the game going with a lead off single to left field. Paniagua came up to the plate and doubled to center field, scoring Dail. WIth two outs Haley Rosenthal (Mahtomedi, Minn./Mahtomedi HS) came up to the plate and reached on a throwing error which allowed Paniagua to score. In the bottom of the second inning, Augsburg put up one run on the board closing the gap on the lead the Saints had over them. In both the bottom of the fourth and fifth inning the Saints went three up and three down on defense. The score remained 2-1 until the bottom of the sixth when the Auggies tied it up with two outs. In the top of the seventh inning Aryn led the inning with a walk. Dail came up to the plate and had a two run home run to take the lead 4-2. Haley Rosenthal (Mahtomedi, Minn./Mahtomedi HS) closed up the game with a strikeout, securing the 4-2 win.
At the plate for CSS, Paniague went 3-4 and Dail went 2-4. In the circle, Rosenthal pitched a complete game with four strikeouts.
CSS 2, Augsburg 10
It was a slow start for the Saints as they went three up, three down in the first inning. In the bottom of the inning Savannah Romero (St. Louis Park, Minn./St. Louis Park HS (Bethel)) got the inning started striking out the lead off hitter. In the field, the Saints kept Augsburg scoreless keeping the score at 0-0 after the first. Augsburg took a 1-0 lead in the second and kept it at a one run game until the bottom of the fourth. In the fourth inning, Lizzie Gladitsch (North Branch, Minn./North Branch HS (Bethel)) went into right field and O'Reilly went in to pitch for Romero later on in the inning with one down. By the end of the fourth inning the Saints were down 6-0. In the top of the sixth, Dail got the inning started with a walk and advanced to third on a fielding error caused by Emma Bolin (Litchfield Park, Ariz./Millennium HS). Paniagua hit a single to center field and scored both Dail and Bolin bringing the score to 6-2. In the bottom of the inning Augsburg put up four more runs to bring the score to 10-2, ending the game in a run rule.
At the plate for CSS the four hits of the game were by Paniagua, Lauren Laviano (Maplewood, Minn./Mahtomedi HS), Kari Breuer (White Bear Lake, Minn./White Bear Lake HS) and Rosenthal. Romero pitched for the Saints for 3.1 innings and had three strikeouts, O'Reilly pitched two innings and Rosenthal went in for one batter.

The Saints (16-16, MIAC 6-10) will be in St. Paul on Wednesday the 3rd to face Hamline University in their rescheduled game from April 1st. Game times are scheduled for 3:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m.
