Women’s Basketball Drops Matchup Against Concordia-Moorhead

MOORHEAD, Minn. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica women's basketball team fell this afternoon, in a road matchup against Concordia-Moorhead, falling by a score of 87-57.
 
First Half
Katie Vaske (Woodbury, MN/Woodbury High School (Hamline University)) scored the first field goal for the Saints, getting a layup to fall, taking a lead early.
 
Miranda Broberg (Milaca, Minn./Milaca HS (UW-Superior)) scored minutes later, after the Cobbers took a 13-4 lead, with a layup, making the score 13-6.
 
Broberg scored moments later, the final field goal of the first quarter, with another layup.
 
Jackie Johnson (Bemidji, MN/Bemidji High School) scored the first points of the second quarter, with a layup, making the score 28-11 in favor of the Cobbers.
 
Broberg and Vaske each got three-pointers to fall, making the score 40-17, with six minutes to play in the first half.
 
Ashley Faur (Pine City, Minn./Pine City HS) scored his first points of the game with layup, and moments later Lexi Imdieke (Andover, MN/Andover High School) got a three-pointer to fall, as the Saints trailed 45-24 at halftime.
 
Second Half
Johnson scored the first five points for CSS in the second half, hitting a three-pointer and converting a pair of free throws.
 
After free throws by Johnson and Broberg, Imdieke hit a three-pointer, ending the third quarter with the score being 67-38 in favor of Concordia-Moorhead.
 
Megan Hurley (Woodbury, Minn./Woodbury HS) scored on a layup to open up the final quarter, followed by a jumper by Johnson moments later.
 
Later in the quarter, Nia Hacker (Farmington, MN/Eastview High School) scored her first points of the game, with a three-pointer with four minutes to play.
 
The Saints scored 10 of its 19 points from the free throw line, shooting 90.91% from the free throw line in the final quarter.
 
The Cobbers were ultimately able to close out the game, defeating CSS by a score of 87-57.

The Saints (1-21, 1-19 MIAC) will hit the court next on Wednesday, where they will host the Oles from St. Olaf at Reif Gymnasium. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
