DULUTH, Minn. – The St. Scholastica women's basketball team hosted the Scots from Macaletser this afternoon at the Reif Gymnasium. After a strong defensive outing by both teams in the first half, the game came down to a last second opportunity, which the Saints converted to send the game to overtime. However, in overtime, the Scots were able to hold on and capture a 60-57 victory over CSS.

The Saints began the scoring as Gabby Voigt (St. Michael. Minn./St. Michael- Albertville HS) scored the Saints' first field goal of the afternoon just moments into the opening quarter.
Kloey Lind (Pine City, Minn./Pine City HS) began her afternoon scoring performance with a pair of layups, keeping the score tied early.
After the Scots took a 12-8 lead into the second quarter, Jada Bierschbach (Richmond, Minn./Rocori HS) cut the deficit to three midway through the second quarter, as the Scots led 18-15.
Moments later, Hannah Compton (Anoka, Minn./Crosby-Ironton HS) tied the game at 18-18 with a`three-pointer with just a few minutes to play in the half.
Bierschbach scored the final field goal for CSS to take a 24-23 lead, but the Scots were able to respond and take a 26-24 lead into halftime.
After Jackie Johnson (Bemidji, Minn./Bemidji HS) scored on a pair of free throws, Imdieke and Lind both got layups to fall for the Saints, trimming the Scots' lead to 33-30.
Hope Carlson (Proctor, Minn./Proctor HS) stepped up moments later with a big three-pointer that tied the game at 35-35.
The Saints would reclaim its lead twice on the next two possessions, with Lind and Voigt both scoring on layups, as the Saints led 39-38.
In the fourth quarter, after Macalester took a 44-42 lead over St. Scholastica, Katie Vaske (Woodbury, Minn./Woodbury HS (Hamline University)) scored on a deep three-pointer, giving CSS a one-point lead.
Later in the quarter, layups from Compton and Imdieke would cut the lead for the Scots down to three, as CSS trailed 54-51.
After Lind scored a layup with 45 seconds to play, the Scots responded with a layup of its own to take a three-point lead with just seconds to play. However, the Saints got a gift from Imdieke, who hit the game-tying three-pointer to send the game into overtime.
Unfortunately for the Saints, overtime would not be as kind to them, as the team shot 0-7 from the field and the Scots were able to take today's game by a score of 60-57.

The Saints (2-3, 1-2) will be back in action on Monday, where they will host the Gusties from Gustavus. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
