PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – The St. Scholastica men's soccer team fell this evening in a road matchup against the Pioneers from Wisconsin-Platteville. The Saints struck first, but four unanswered goals gave the Pioneers a 4-1 victory over CSS.
How it Happened
The Saints caught a break and struck first on its first shot on goal, as Parker Chastey (Duluth, Minn./Denfeld HS) netted his second goal in as many games, to give CSS a 1-0 lead.
The Pioneers however, responded in the 26th minute, tying the game at 1-1.
Right before the end of the half, Wisconsin-Platteville netted its second goal of the game, taking a 2-1 lead over CSS into halftime.
The Saints defense held its ground to begin the second half, but the Pioneers found a way to score its third goal of the game, extending its lead over CSS to 3-1.
In the final stretches of this match, the Saints offense desperately needed to mount two quick goals, but it would be for not, as the Pioneers scored in the 87th minute, putting this one away and taking today's match by a score of 4-1.
One Last Match
The Saints (2-13-1, 0-8-1) will finish off its regular season on Saturday, where they will travel to St. Peter to take on Gustavus Adolphus College. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m.
