DULUTH, Minn. (csssaints.com)The St. Scholastica women's basketball team hosted the Royals from Bethel University tonight. The Royals took an early lead in this one, and although the Saints had a big fourth quarter, the Royals were able to take tonight's game, as CSS fell by a score of 82-64.

First Half
The Royals jumped out to an early five-point lead, before Megan Hurley (Woodbury, Minn./Woodbury HS) scored the first Saints field goal, with a jumper of her own to make it an 8-5 lead for the Royals.

The Saints failed to score through the rest of the first quarter, but quickly made its mark in the second quarter, as Katie Vaske (Woodbury, MN/Woodbury High School (Hamline University)) and Miranda Broberg (Milaca, Minn./Milaca HS (UW-Superior)) both hit free throws, and Jackie Johnson (Bemidji, MN/Bemidji High School) got her first points of the game, with a three-pointer.

The Saints went cold for the next few minutes, until Lexi Imdieke (Andover, MN/Andover High School) got a layup to fall, and Hurley got a layup of her own to go down, as Bethel led at halftime by a score of 40-22.

Second Half
CSS got on the board early starting off the second half, as Imdieke and Vaske both got layups to fall, as the Saints still faced a big deficit, trailing 45-28.

Johnson got her second field goal of the night to fall roughly halfway through the third quarter, making it a 50-33 game.

The Royals extended its lead over the next few minutes, going on a 14-4 run to end the quarter, leading by 27 heading into the final quarter.

Nia Hacker (Farmington, MN/Eastview High School) got her first points of the night, scoring on a three-pointer with an assist from Johnson. Hacker saw herself in a bigger role tonight with the absence of Liz Frase (Proctor, Minn./Proctor HS (Concordia-Moorhead)) from the lineup tonight.

Grace Bault scored her first basket of the game with four minutes to play on a layup, and Imdieke scored another layup on the ensuing Saints possession.

Still trailing by a considerable amount, Eve Turner (Side Lake, Minn./Hibbing HS) got a layup to fall, and Broberg got a three-pointer of her own to go down just moments later.

Ashley Faur (Pine City, Minn./Pine City HS) and Hacker shined bright in the closing minutes of tonight's game, as Faur got a three-pointer to go, and Hacker hit two shots from beyond-the-arc, but the Royals overall took tonight's game by a score of 82-64.
