DULUTH, Minn. (csssaints.com) - The St. Scholastica men's soccer team opened its season at home where they hosted the Raiders of the Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE).  While the Saints were able to hold its own using strong defense, the Raiders were able to pull away in today's match, by a score of 3-0.

How It Happened

The Raiders got the scoring going early, scoring a goal eight minutes into the first half. Just 54 seconds later, the Raiders added another goal and extended its lead, 2-0.

The Saints, who finished last season with a 7-10-1 season, were able to get two shots on goal in the first half. Junior goalie Liam Lothian (Redditch, England/RSA Academy Arrow Vale) made a key save in the 34th minute in the first half to help keep the Saints in the game.

The Raiders added another goal in the 40th minute to extend its lead over CSS, 3-0.

In the second half, the Saints tried to give themselves a chance to make a comeback. Lucas Bollback (Cottage Grove, Minn./Park HS) and Guilherme Silva (Curitiba, Brazil/Bom Jesus Vivina Providencia (Gardner-Webb)) both came very close to putting the Saints on the scoreboard but ultimately fell victim to a solid Raider defense.

The Saints made a push in the end of the second half, but the Raiders walked away victorious in today's match, by a score of 3-0.
