DULUTH, Minn.
(csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica men's soccer team hosted the Cobbers from Concordia-Moorhead this afternoon in a MIAC conference matchup at Saints field. The Cobbers took an early lead in the first half and extended its lead in the second half with another goal in the earlier stages of the second half. CSS gave a late push, but a game decided by physicality gave Concordia the win today by a score of 2-1.
How it Happened
Concordia took an early lead in the game today, scoring in the first six minutes of the first half, giving the Cobbers an early 1-0 lead.
The Saints were kept quiet in the first half, as the Saints were only able to manage one shot on goal, as the Cobbers took a 1-0 lead in the first half.
The second half was dominated by physicality by both teams. CSS was able to get three shots on goal within the half's first 10 minutes.
Concordia extended its lead in the 58
th on a corner kick, making it a 2-0 lead for the Cobbers.
CSS received three yellow cards in the next 10 minutes to shift the momentum in a huge way. The game became very physical in the minutes following, going in favor of the Cobbers.

Keegan Chastey (Duluth, Minn./Duluth Denfeld HS) scored his third goal of the season and giving CSS some momentum in the late stages of the game. The goal cut Concordia's lead in half, as CSS trailed just 2-1.
In the closing minutes of the game, CSS missed a shot just left of the goal which would have tied the game at 2. Unfortunately, CSS couldn't mutter anything else as Concordia took this afternoon's match by a score of 2-1.
The Saints will also be short-handed for its next couple of games as head coach
Barry Chastey and an assistant coach were both given red cards in today's contest.
