ST. PETER, Minn.
(csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica men's soccer team traveled to St. Peter on Tuesday afternoon to take on for the first time this season a MIAC conference opponent in the Gustavus Adolphus Gusties. The Gusties took a 1-0 lead heading into the second half, and scored two more, defeating CSS in this contest, by a score of 3-0.
How it Happened
Gustavus was able to get the scoring going early, scoring an early goal to take an early 1-0 lead over the Saints.
The Saints struggled to get any rhythm going in the first half, as they found themselves trailing 1-0 at halftime. While they only managed to get off one shot,
Liam Lothian (Redditch, England/RSA Academy Arrow Vale) recorded four saves in the first half to help keep the Saints in the game.
The Gusties extended its lead over the Saints early in the second half, scoring on a corner kick to take a 2-0 lead.
The Saints had some opportunities to score but were ultimately shot down by the Gusties. The Gusties extended its lead in the late minutes of the game, taking a 3-0 lead that the Gusties would not lose as they defeated CSS in this matchup.
