csssaints.com) – St. Scholastica senior pitcher/first baseman
Olivia Howe (Scandia, Minn./Forest Lake HS) earned All-Conference accolades from the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC), the league announced on Tuesday.
Howe, who earned Third Team All-Region recognition on Monday, earns All-Conference honors for the second consecutive season with last year's honors coming from the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC). Howe was also an Honorable Mention All-UMAC choice in 2019.
She led the team this season with a .405 batting average, .595 slugging percentage, .455 on-base percentage, 33 runs scored, 49 hits, 13 doubles and 72 total bases. In the pitching circle, she led the team with eight wins, 60 strikeouts, a 3.63 earned run average and two saves.
In conference play, Howe led all MIAC players with nine doubles and 50 total bases. She also ranked third with a .676 slugging percentage against league competition. Her nine complete games in MIAC action, was third-most in the conference.
Breuer Earns Honorable Mention Accolades
Junior shortstop
Kari Breuer (White Bear Lake, Minn./White Bear Lake HS) was an Honorable Mention All-MIAC choice. It marks the first time in her career that she receives conference recognition of any kind.
Breuer led the team with six triples, 14 walks and 16 stolen bases. She ranked second on the team with a .466 slugging percentage, .395 on-base percentage and 27 runs scored. Breuer led the MIAC in triples both overall and in conference play (3). Her 10 stolen bases in MIAC action ranked sixth in the league.
MIAC Postseason Awards
The College of Saint Benedict's Gabby Spencer was named the MIAC Player of the Year. Kayla Simacek of Bethel University was named the MIAC Pitcher of the Year. Jenna Rubbelke of Hamline University was the MIAC Rookie of the Year and Bethel's Penny Foore was the MIAC Coach of the Year.
