Game 1: CSS 5, Bethel 2
The Saints gave the bump to Dallas Miller (Monticello, Minn./Big Lake HS) in game one this afternoon. The senior pitcher struck out one in the top of the first inning and retired the first three Royal batters with ease. After the Saints' were also set down with little trouble in its half of the inning, the Royals put the first run of the afternoon in the top of the second, taking an early 1-0 lead.

In the bottom of the second inning, Jack Harris (San Francisco, Calif./Sacred Heart Cathedral Prep (Skyline CC)) opened up the inning with a single. Zach Harding (Red Wing, Minn./Red Wing HS) doubled with one out. Both runners then scored on a Bethel error in which Mitchell Novak (Stillwater, Minn./Stillwater HS) reached second on. Matt Tautges (Fort Ripley, Minn./Pierz HS) then singled through the right side, scoring Novak and extending the Saints' lead, 3-1. Jack Tiemann (Bloomington, Minn./Bloomington Kennedy HS) singled to put two on. With two outs in the inning, Jake Schelonka (Sartell, Minn./Sartell HS) doubled into the left side, scoring both Tautges and Tiemann and giving the Saints a 5-1 lead.

The Royals added another run in the top of the fourth inning, cutting into the Saints' lead 5-2.

Both teams were silenced as Miller was silencing the Royals bats as they couldn't get any runs in.

In the top of the seventh inning, Miller was sent out to finish the Royals off. He got the first batter to ground out and put the magic number of outs down to two.
