DULUTH, Minn. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica men's tennis team was defeated 5-4 Friday night in Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) action against St. Olaf College with four of the matches being decided by tiebreakers.
 
Doubles
The lone team to win in doubles action was the No. 3 team of Reece Patten (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS) and Carter Anderson (Hibbing, Minn./Hibbing HS) by a score of 8-5.
 
The Oles (3-4, 2-2 MIAC) pulled out the other two matches, including by tiebreaker at the No. 1 spot 8-7 (7-4).
 
Singles
Elliot Schneider (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS) returned to the court for the first time since Spring Break and won at the No. 1 singles spot by scores of 6-4, 6-4.
 
Jonas Abeleda (Sydney, Australia/St Aloysius' College) also pulled out the win at the No. 2 position by scores of 6-2, 7-6 (7-1).
 
St. Olaf won spots 3-5 to take the dual, including winning by a third set super-breaker at the Nos. 4 and 5 positions.
 
Jacob Seitz (Mountain Iron, Minn./Virginia HS (Minnesota Magicians-NAHL)) was able to pull out a win for the Saints in a super-breaker, rallying to win 3-6, 6-3, (10-2).
 
Up Next
The Saints (4-8, 2-4 MIAC) are back in action tomorrow (Saturday) when they travel to face Gustavus Adolphus College in Saint Peter. Action is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. at the Swanson Tennis Center.
