ROGERS, Minn. (
csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica men's tennis team traveled to face Bethel University on Saturday still with a chance to find a way into the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) Playoffs. Unfortunately, the Royals clinched the final spot with a 9-0 victory over the Saints at the Rogers Tennis Club to end St. Scholastica's season.
Doubles
The Royals (10-8, 5-4 MIAC) swept all three doubles matches, surrendering only eight games.
Singles
Riley Versich (Kelly Lake, Minn./Hibbing HS (Itasca CC)) went to a third set superbreaker at the No. 4 spot, but came up just short in the superbreaker 6-3, 4-6, (10-3).
End of Season
The Saints wrap up their first season in the MIAC with a 5-10 overall record and 3-6 in league play. The Saints will say goodbye to seniors
Elliot Schneider (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS),
Riley Versich (Kelly Lake, Minn./Hibbing HS (Itasca CC)),
Duke Nguyen (St. Paul, Minn./St. Paul Academy and Summit School) and
Maximilian Eilefson (New Brighton, Minn./Irondale HS).
Schneider finishes his career with the fourth-most singles wins (59) in program history and the 10
th most combined wins (90) in program history.
