-CSS improves to 2-0 in shootouts
-First 0-0 tie since 2/2/2013

BLAINE, Minn. (csssaints.com) – Sophomore goaltender Ashlea Arvidson (St. Cloud, Minn./St. Cloud Cathedral HS) stopped all 28 shots she faced in 65 minutes of play and then stopped four shootout attempts as the St. Scholastica women's hockey team played Bethel University to a 0-0 tie, but then earned the extra Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) point with the shootout win on Saturday.

How it Happened
The Royals (6-8-1, 4-4-1 MIAC) outshot the Saints 15-11 in the first period, but the Saints controlled play with a 25-12 shot advantage in the final two periods.

St. Scholastica was unable to convert on five power-plays in the game. The 3-on-3 overtime saw the Saints put three shots on target, but none crossed the goal line as the game officially ended in a tie, but a shootout would determine the extra point in the league standings.

Shootout
The first three shooters on both teams would either be denied by the opposing goaltender or missed the goal target, meaning it went to a sudden death shootout. St. Scholastica's fourth attempt would by Lauryn Hull (Kimberly, Wis./Kimberly HS), who finally saw a puck go in the net. Arvidson then denied Bethel's attempt as the Saints took the extra point for their second shootout win of the season.
