DULUTH, Minn. (
csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica women's basketball team was outscored 24-8 in points off turnovers and held to a season-low 18 second-half points in a 58-42 loss to Carleton College on Saturday in Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) action at the Reif Gymnasium.

It was Senior Day at The Reif and the program's lone senior
Emma Schmidt (Alexandria, Minn./Alexandria HS) got the scoring started with a 3-pointer. A
Miranda Broberg (Milaca, Minn./Milaca HS (UW-Superior)) 3-pointer a couple of minutes later extended the Saints lead to 9-4. However, St. Scholastica would not make a field goal the final seven minutes of the first quarter as the Knights (8-12, 7-10 MIAC) went on a 13-0 run to take a 17-9 lead. CSS made five free throws in the final two minutes of the quarter to trail 17-14 after one period.
Grace Balut (Sandstone, Minn./Hinckley-Finlayson HS) scored the first seven points of the second quarter for the Saints and her 3-pointer made it 22-21 Carleton. The Knights responded with a 10-0 run and led 32-24 at halftime.

Liz Frase (Proctor, Minn./Proctor HS (Concordia-Moorhead)) layup with three minutes left in the third quarter made the deficit only six at 37-31. Carleton answered with six straight points and led 43-34 heading into the fourth quarter.
In the fourth quarter, Carleton shot a game-high 43%, while Saints shot a game-low 24% as the Knights outscored the Saints 15-8 in the period to win going away 58-42.
Top Performers
Broberg led the Saints with 12 points, while Balut finished with eight points. Frase led the team with six rebounds.
Jasmine Choi led all scorers with 20 points for the Knights.

The Saints (1-18, 1-16 MIAC) remain at home on Monday where they welcome Macalester College to The Reif. Tip time is scheduled for 7 p.m.
