ROGERS, Minn. (
csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica men's tennis team won its first ever Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) dual match on Saturday, dropping Hamline University 7-2 at the Rogers Tennis Club.
Doubles
The Pipers (1-3, 0-1 MIAC) had the better of the Saints in doubles play winning two of the three matches.
The lone CSS team to win was the No. 3 tandem of
Reece Patten (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS) and
Carter Anderson (Hibbing, Minn./Hibbing HS) by an 8-6 margin.
Singles
The Saints then swept all six singles matches to take the dual.
Elliot Schneider (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS) won at the No. 1 spot 6-2, 7-5. Schneider extends win streak to 17 matches in dual play.
Jonas Abeleda (Sydney, Australia/St Aloysius' College) improved to 3-0 with a 6-4, 6-2 triumph at the No. 2 spot.
Anderson rallied to win in a third set super-breaker at the No. 3 position 5-7, 6-1, (10-7).
Giacomo Lucchesi (Lima, Peru/Santa Maria Marianistas) won 6-0, 6-4 at the No. 4 position.
Riley Versich (Kelly Lake, Minn./Hibbing HS (Itasca CC)) was victorious by scores of 6-3, 6-2 at the No. 5 spot.
Patten was the final winner at the No. 6 spot by scores of 6-1, 6-0.

The Saints (2-1, 1-1 MIAC) will face Carleton College next Saturday at 2:30 p.m. at the Owatonna Tennis Club.
