The Saints held a lead late into the second half, but Northland was able to sink a game-winning three-pointer in the final seconds to defeat CSS, 81-80.

How it Happened
Early in the first half, Noah Winesett (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS) got on the scoreboard on a possession started by a Luke Raymond (Hudson, Wis./Concordia Academy (UW-River Falls)) steal, and an assist from Kevin Thomas (Hermantown, Minn./Hermantown HS) to get the Saints its first lead of the ballgame.

Five minutes into the game, Nick Carlson (Canyon, Minn./South Ridge HS) hit a key jumper to put the Saints up three and a few possessions later, he hit a three-pointer on an assist from Cade Goggleye (Nett Lake, Minn./North Woods HS) to give CSS some momentum.

On the ensuing Saints possession, Kevin Thomas (Hermantown, Minn./Hermantown HS) got a jumper to fall to give the Saints a 16-15 lead over the Lumberjacks.

After a Lumberjacks layup that put them back in the lead, Jeff Moore (Richfield, Minn./Richfield HS) got a three-pointer to fall to give the Saints' lead back with nine minutes to play in the first half.

Carlson and Raymond both got layups to go with roughly five minutes to play in the half to help give the Saints a one-point lead.

The Lumberjacks tied the game at 28-28 with under a minute to play until Carlson hit a key three-pointer to give CSS a three-point lead at halftime.

Opening up the second half, Winesett got the scoring started, hitting a three-pointer on an assist from Carlson to extend CSS' lead.

Following a Lumberjacks three-pointer of its own, Carlson got a jumper to fall and on the next Saints possession, Raymond hit a jumper to keep CSS in the lead.

Winesett took control of the next couple possessions for CSS, as the junior hit his second three-pointer of the half, then converted a free throw at the line to give CSS a four-point lead.

Halfway through the second half, Matho Ojullu (Lakeville, MN/Lakeville North High School (Dakota County Technical College)) notched his first points of the game on a layup, followed up with a and-one layup by Moore to put CSS up by two.

Later in the half, Isiah Hendrickson (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS) took over, scoring on four of the Saints' next five possessions to put the Saints up 12 leading 65-53.

With five minutes to play, Carlson got a jumper to fall to put CSS up by 13.

The Lumberjacks started to cut into CSS' lead, but the Saints still led by eight points after a Carlson dunk with a minute and a half to play.

Even though the Saints held the lead late, the Lumberjacks forced a late turnover and then hit a game-winning three pointer with just three seconds to play, as Northland defeated CSS by a score of 81-80.
