DULUTH, Minn. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica women's basketball team hosted the Pipers from Hamline this evening at Reif Gymnasium. Unfortunately, the Saints had a hard time finding the bottom of the net, as the Pipers took advantage of the Saints' struggles and defeated the Saints by a score of 75-45.

How it Happened
Hamline opened up a lead early, as the Pipers went on a 12-2 run before the Saints called a timeout to try to stop the Pipers' run.

Out of the timeout, Eve Turner (Side Lake, Minn./Hibbing HS) hit a pair of three-pointers, as St. Scholastica's deficit was trimmed down to eight points.

The Pipers responded themselves, going on a 8-4 run to end the first quarter, as CSS trailed by a score of 24-12.

Initially, CSS got out of the gate fast in the second quarter, as Jackie Johnson (Bemidji, MN/Bemidji High School) hit a layup, followed by an Imdieke three-pointer, cut Hamline's lead back to single-digits to nine points.

CSS then went four minutes without a basket until Miranda Broberg (Milaca, Minn./Milaca HS (UW-Superior)) converted a layup to help stop the Hamline run.

Johnson converted a couple of free throws near the end of the first half, but CSS trailed at halftime by a score of 49-21.

The third quarter saw the Saints struggle to find the bottom of the net. Imdieke hit a jumper early in the quarter, but that was the lone field goal CSS would convert as the Saints made just one shot on 12 attempts from the field, as Hamline extended its lead after three quarters, leading by 39.

Katie Vaske (Woodbury, MN/Woodbury High School (Hamline University)) opened the final quarter of the game with a three-pointer, followed by a jumper by Broberg to help trim the deficit.

With roughly two minutes left to play, Liz Frase (Proctor, Minn./Proctor HS (Concordia-Moorhead)) converted a layup, and Imdieke hit another three in the later moments, but Hamline pulled away in this one, winning by a score of 75-45.
