(csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica women's basketball team traveled across the state border this evening, taking on the Yellowjackets from UW-Superior. Unfortunately, the Saints were not able to get much going tonight, as turnovers were a big part in tonight's matchup, as the Yellowjackets walked away with a 71-47 victory over CSS.
How it Happened
The Yellowjackets started off tonight's game with a hot hand, taking a 15-4 lead halfway through the first quarter.
In the second quarter, a
Katie Vaske (Woodbury, MN/Woodbury High School (Hamline University)) jumper cut the lead to 14, as Superior led by a score of 30-16.
In the final minutes of the first half, a jumper by
Karli Nixon (Deerwood, Minn./Crosby-Ironton HS) and a pair of free throws by
Grace Balut (Sandstone, Minn./Hinckley-Finlayson HS) helped CSS stay in the game, as CSS trailed by 21 heading into the second half.
Lexi Imdieke (Andover, MN/Andover High School) and Vaske both produced early in the third quarter, as Imdieke hit a three-pointer and Vaske recorded another jumper, but CSS still trailed by 23.
Superior extended its lead in the fourth quarter, and ultimately took tonight's matchup by a score of 71-47.
