ST. PAUL, Minn.
(cssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica men's soccer team traveled to St. Paul this afternoon to take on a conference rival in the Pipers from Hamline University. Hamline scored the first goal early in the second half, but CSS rebounded and scored five goals in the last 40 minutes to take the victory in today's game by a score of 5-1.
How it Happened
CSS and Hamline went back-and-forth in the first half, but nothing came of it as both teams went into halftime tied at 0.
Hamline notched its first goal of the game in the 50
th minute to take a 1-0 lead.
It didn't take CSS long to respond, no more than a minute later,
Clemente Infante (Santiago, Chile/Saint Georges College (Oakland City)) notched his first goal of the season, to tie the game at 1-1.
St. Scholastica broke the tie in the 64
th minute as
Ken Pryde (Fareham, England/Barton Peveril College) notched his first goal of the season, to take a 2-1 lead over the Pipers.
Less than three minutes went by before CSS struck again, this time it was
Collins Wachira (Nairobi, Kenya/Strathmore University), who scored his first goal of the season as well on an assist by
Keegan Chastey (Duluth, Minn./Duluth Denfeld HS), to make it a 3-1 game in favor of the Saints.
CSS wasn't done quite yet, as Pryde scored his second goal of the game in the 78
th minute, coming off another assist from Chastey, to make it 4-1.
Adding the cherry on top of today's game,
Finigan Huffington (Georgetown, Cayman Islands/John Gray HS) notched his first goal of the season to make it 5-1 in favor of CSS, as St. Scholastica defeated the Pipers this afternoon.
