(csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica men's soccer team hosted its crosstown rivals this afternoon, as the Wisconsin-Superior Yellowjackets faced the Saints. CSS scored a goal in the first half, followed by another in the second half. Despite the lead, the Yellowjackets scored three goals in the final 10 minutes as Wisconsin-Superior walked away with the victory in today's contest by a score of 3-2.
How it Happened
In the first half, CSS was able to capture the first goal of the afternoon as
Andres Gradilla (Guadalajara, Mexico/Colegio Cervantes Costa Rica (Oakland City)) scored his second goal of the season, assisted by
Jordan Finneran (Newmarket, England/Cambridge Regional College), to take a 1-0 lead.
The Saints held its first half lead into halftime over the Yellowjackets.
In the 76
th minute, CSS found the back of the net for the second time. This time
Keegan Chastey (Duluth, Minn./Duluth Denfeld HS) notched his fifth goal of the season, coming off an assist by
Ken Pryde (Fareham, England/Barton Peveril College), to make it 2-0 in favor of the Saints.
The Yellowjackets would not go done without a fight however, as Wisconsin-Superior scored its first goal in the 81
st minute to cut CSS' lead down to 2-1.
Only 59 seconds after the Yellowjackets scored its first goal of the game, they had scored another goal to now make it 2-2 in the closing minutes of the game.
In the final two minutes of the game, Wisconsin-Superior scored the deciding goal of the game, making it 3-2 and prevailing over the Saints in today's action.
