NFCA ALL-REGION TEAMS

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica softball team matched a program-high with four players named All-Midwest Region performers by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) on Friday with junior Olivia Howe (Scandia, Minn./Forest Lake HS) and first-year Aislind Dail (Sumner, Wash./Sumner HS) named to the First Team.

Howe and Dail Named First Team All-Midwest Region
Howe and Dail become the first Saints to be recognized as First Team All-Midwest Region performers since Bonnie Kowalczyk in 2012. It also marks the first time since 2007 the Saints have had multiple First Team All-Region representatives.

Howe, who was a Third Team All-Midwest Region choice in 2019, had one of the best single seasons in St. Scholastica history this spring. Howe broke single-season program records for hits (66), batting average (.545), slugging percentage (.950) and tied the single-season record for RBIs (56).

She led the team in doubles (17), triples (4) and home runs (8). Howe ranks in the top five nationally in total bases (115). In the pitcher's circle, Howe won 16 games and led the team with a 2.21 earned run average and 130 strikeouts in 23 appearances.

Dail is a First Team All-Region performer in her first year as a Saint. The 2003 season was the last time the Saints had a first-year player named First Team All-Region.

Dail ranked in the top 10 of all Midwest Region players in home runs (7), slugging percentage (.743) and total bases (75). She led the team in walks (22) and was second on the squad with a .473 on-base percentage. She had the longest hitting streak of any Saint during the season at 11 games and reached base safely in the final 23 games of the season. In the field, she was second on the team with 65 assists and was part of 10 doubles plays.

Hadlich Named to Second Team
Another first-year performer, Grace Hadlich (Mahtomedi, Minn./Mahtomedi HS), earned Second Team All-Midwest Region accolades. Hadlich finished second on the team with a .405 batting average. Hadlich finished the season reaching base safely in each of the final 22 games.

Rosenthal Named to Third Team
Sophomore Haley Rosenthal (Mahtomedi, Minn./Mahtomedi HS) earned Third Team All-Midwest Region laurels. Rosenthal tied with Howe with 16 victories in the pitcher's circle and ranked in the top 10 of Midwest Region pitchers with five shutouts. Opponents hit only .239 off of her as she surrendered just 112 hits in 121.1 innings pitched. Her .842 winning percentage this season ranks fourth best in program history.
