Schley, Fourre & Howe Receive NFCA All-Region Recognition

NFCA DIVISION III ALL-REGION TEAMS

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (csssaints.com) – St. Scholastica softball's Maggie Schley (Mounds View, Minn./Irondale HS), Josie Fourre (Albany, Minn./Albany HS) and Olivia Howe (Scandia, Minn./Forest Lake HS) were named All-Midwest Region performers by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA); it was announced on Wednesday.

Schley is named Second Team All-Midwest Region for the second consecutive year and the third time in her career. The Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) Player of the Year hit over .400 for the second time in her career (.423) and delivered a career-high 40 RBIs, 47 hits, including five home runs. She finished with the third-highest career batting average (.412) in program history and the second-most doubles (57) in a career.

Schley's 13 wins this season in the pitching circle almost matched her total from the previous three seasons of 15. Her 89 strikeouts in 2019 did match the last three seasons combined. Her five shutouts tied for the third-most among Midwest Region players.

Fourre earns All-Region accolades for the first time in her career, being named to the Third Team. After hitting only .204 in 54 at-bats in her freshman season, Fourre hit .382 this year with a team-high seven home runs. Those seven home runs tied for the fifth-most in the region this season.

At one point during the year she hit four home runs in four consecutive at-bats, tying for the second-most in NCAA Division III history. She became the first Saint to be named the NFCA NCAA Division III National Player of the Week in April.

Howe also earns Third Team All-Midwest Region accolades in her first season as a Saint. The Honorable Mention All-UMAC selection finished second on the team in hits (43) and tied for the team lead with 13 doubles. She was third on the team in average (.371), slugging percentage (.543) and recorded a team-best 19 walks.

In the pitching circle, Howe recorded four shutouts and registered 10 wins with a 2.60 strikeout-to-walk ratio, which ranked in the top 20 among Midwest Region pitchers.
