SCHEDULE UPDATE: Softball to Host Northland

DULUTH, Minn. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica softball team will host Northland College this week at CSS. Weather has changed Monday's doubleheader to Wednesday at CSS. Those games will be non-conference games. The Saints and 'Jills are still scheduled to play a conference doubleheader on Tuesday at St. Scholastica.

What You Need to Know about the Saints:
-The Saints are coming off a doubleheader sweep of Crown College on Friday.
-Maggie Schley (Mounds View, Minn./Irondale HS) pitched every inning of the doubleheader sweep and ranks third in the conference in ERA (3.18), opposing batting average (.260) and tied for third in wins (8).
-With six league games remaining, the Saints are three games back in the loss column to both University of Wisconsin-Superior and Bethany Lutheran College.
-To stake claim to their 11th consecutive regular season title, CSS would need UWS to lose three of their final four and BLC to drop three of their final six. (CSS and BLC play the final weekend of the regular season; UWS needs to lose all four of its games for CSS to capture the No. 1 seed).
-Nicole Anders (Port Angeles, Wash./Sequim HS) leads the conference with 15 stolen bases with Hannah Thul (Superior, Wis./Superior HS) second with 14.
-Thul is tied for second in the league with 27 runs scored.
 
What You Need to Know about Northland:
Record: 6-20, 2-10 UMAC
-The LumberJills have lost six straight games, surrendering at least 10 runs in all six games.
-Northland ranks second in the UMAC with a .330 batting average and lead the conference with 15 triples.
-However, the team ERA is 11.79, second-worst in the league
-Kylie Wickiser (.458) and Cheyenne Otto (.446) rank second and third, respectively in the conference in batting average.
 
Series Record: CSS leads 55-9 (Last Meeting: 24-0 (F/5) CSS– 2/23/2019)
 
Series History: The Saints opened the 2019 season with a 24-0 drubbing of the LumberJills at the Finlandia Dome Tournament in February … CSS has scored at least 16 runs in the three of the last four meetings.
 
Looking Ahead: The Saints will travel to Minneapolis to face North Central University (Minn.) on Thursday.
