csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica softball team will have its first games of 2019 in Duluth on Sunday when it opens Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) action against Martin Luther College on the turf of Saints Field.

What You Need to Know about the Saints:
-The Saints lost their first game 5-0 against Augsburg University on Tuesday night, but were able to battle back in the second game and put up six runs with eight hits to beat the Auggies 6-1.
-Senior pitcher
Maggie Schley (Mounds View, Minn./Irondale HS) put up the only two hits for the Saints in their first game against the Auggies. Schley also recorded three strikeouts on the mound.

Olivia Howe (Scandia, Minn./Forest Lake HS) continues to lead the team in hits with 21 and strikeouts in the pitcher's circle with 42.
-Sophomore
Hannah Thul (Superior, Wis./Superior HS) has 17 hits and a team-high 17 runs scored.
-Schley leads the team with a .400 batting average, followed closely by Howe at .396.
-Junior catcher
Toni Bishop (Roseville, Minn./Roseville HS) leads the team with 12 RBIs.
-If the Saints do play the scheduled doubleheader either Saturday or Sunday this weekend, it would be the first known March home games in program history.

-The Knights last played on their Spring Break trip on March 11.
-MLC went 4-4 over Spring Break.
-Sophomore Brittany Denn leads the team with 16 hits and a .400 batting average
-Junior pitcher Morgan Palubicki leads the team on the mound with 10 strikeouts, while junior pitcher Mykenna Schneiter leads the team with an ERA of 4.67.
-In their last game senior Kayla Rosenbaum recorded one hit and one RBI. She has 13 hits recorded for the season.
-Freshmen Elena Hoffman leads the team in putouts with 66.
-Martin Luther is picked to finish sixth in the UMAC this season.
Series Record: The Saints lead 62-8
(Last Meeting: 5-2 MLC – 4/22/2018)
Series History: The last meeting took place in Duluth where the Knights upset the Saints' 22-game winning streak over the course of eight years. The Saints beat the Knights earlier that day, but were defeated 5-2 in the second game.
Looking Ahead: The Saints will play their conference rival at home in a doubleheader against the University of Wisconsin-Superior next Wednesday.
