csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica softball team is back in action for its first Minnesota games this season as it takes part in a doubleheader vs. Hamline University on Sunday in Northfield and then squares off with Bethel University on Monday in West St. Paul.

What You Need to Know about the Saints:
-The Saints went 2-2 last weekend at the Finlandia Dome Classic. Their last game on Sunday, they suffered a loss 8-7 to Marian University (Wis.).
-Freshman pitcher
Olivia Howe (Scandia, Minn./Forest Lake HS) had a great start to her collegiate career with 13 strikeouts on the weekend and a nearly perfect game vs. Northland College, only allowing one hit.
-The team's only senior
Maggie Schley (Mounds View, Minn./Irondale HS) also had a great start to her final season as a Saint with 12 strikeouts and an ERA of 3.23.
-Catcher
Toni Bishop (Roseville, Minn./Roseville HS) was responsible for 27 putouts last weekend.
-Schley and Bishop led the weekend in hits with five each. Howe also recorded four hits, including three doubles.
-Schley was also responsible for five RBIs, while Bishop and sophomore
Josie Fourre (Albany, Minn./Albany HS) finished close behind with four.
-Both Bishop and Schley were named to the All-Tournament team.
-CSS started the season strong winning their first game 24-0, where 17 of those points were scored in the first two innings.
What You Need to Know about Hamline:
-After having two games postponed, the Pipers will play their season opener as a double-header vs. the Saints.
-Hamline is projected to finish sixth in the MIAC.
-Last year they recorded 65 runs and did not make it to the postseason. They finished their season 17-19 overall, and 10-12 in the MIAC.
-Sophomore pitcher Alex Molloy will return to the mound after a strong rookie season, where she appeared in 27 games and was tied for the team lead with six wins. Her ERA for last season also led the team at 2.60.
-The team carries a young roster with six freshmen, six sophomores, and only two seniors.

Series History: The last two meetings took place in West St. Paul on the same weekend last year, where the Saints lost both games.
What You Need to Know about Bethel:
-Sunday will mark the season opener for the Royals vs. the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point.
-Bethel is projected to finish seventh behind Hamline in the MIAC.
-They finished last season earning 63 runs, falling just short of sixth place.
-The Royals also carry a young roster featuring only one senior, while 11 new freshmen join the team.
-Junior pitcher Hannah Schmidt will enter the season with an ERA of 4.05. She finished off the last season with a total of 77 strikeouts.
-Sophomore Allie Fauth will also return for the Royals after having a batting average of .432 and an on-base percentage of .480. She ended her season tying for the team-high of 38 hits.
- Another sophomore outfielder Mariah Uphoff will also be returning with a team high of 38 hits, as well as leading the team in runs scored with 30.

Series History: The last meeting was a doubleheader in St. Paul that ended in a split, with the Saints winning the first game and the Royals coming back to win the second.
Looking Ahead: The Saints will play their first outdoor games in Tucson, Arizona over Spring Break when they take part in the Tucson Invitational. CSS opens play next Sunday against Mount Mary University (Wis.) and Skidmore College (N.Y.).
