Women’s Hockey Has Final Road Trip of the Season

What You Need to Know about the Saints:
-The Saints come into the weekend tied with Lake Forest College (Ill.) for second place in the NCHA standings. They will host the Foresters on the final weekend of play.
-With the sweep over Finlandia University (Mich.) last weekend, the Saints clinched home ice advantage in the quarterfinal round of the NCHA Slaats Cup playoffs.
-Sophomore Rachel Anderson (Shoreview, Minn./Mounds View HS) leads the NCHA in points (31) and assists (23) and is third on the team in goals (8).
-Anderson ranks second in NCAA Division III, averaging 1.15 assists per game.
-Senior Alexia Klaas (Duluth, Minn./Duluth Denfeld HS (Minnesota-Duluth)) leads the Saints in goals with 12 with a two-goal weekend against Finlandia.
-Klaas needs one more point to become the sixth player in program history to reach 70 career points and one more goal to become the third player to reach 40.
-With her short-handed goal last week, Klaas has now tied the program record for most in a season (3)/
-Sophomore Taylor Thompson (Buffalo, Minn./Buffalo HS) has 23 points on the season, and ranks second in the NCHA behind Anderson.
-Freshman Amber Tilander (International Falls, Minn./Falls HS) leads all NCHA freshmen with 14 points.
-Tilander and Anderson rank second in the league with three game-winning goals.
-Lexi Thomeczek (St. Louis, Mo./St. Joseph Academy (St. Louis AAA Blues)) has seen the majority of time in goal for the Saints. She owns a 2.02 GAA to pair with a .937 save percentage with an 8-5-1 record. She has three shutouts.
-Her save percentage is third in the NCHA and her shutouts rank 19th in the nation.
-Thomeczek is one win shy of tying Lindsey Hartfiel's program record of 28 in a career.
-Saturday's shutout by the Saints set the team's single-season program record for shutouts with six.
-The Saints power play is 19/78 (.244) which leads the conference.
-Greta Nundahl (New Brighton, Minn./Irondale HS) ranks third in the NCHA among defensemen with 20 points.
-The Saints penalty kill is holding opponents to a .123 conversion rate.
-CSS leads all NCHA teams with +13 advantage in special teams.
-The Saints are 5-3-1 on the road this season.
-CSS has out-scored teams 48-22 in the second and third periods.
-CSS is 10-1-0 when it scores first, but is 3-5-1 when it doesn't.
-The Saints are 11-0-0 when leading or tied after the second period. They are 0-6-0 when trailing after two periods.
 
What You Need to Know about Aurora:
Record: 6-12-3, 3-8-3 NCHA
-The Spartans come into this weekend still with an outside shot of making the playoffs.
-They currently sit at nine points on the season, two points outside the final playoff spot.
-Aurora is 3-5-0 at home this season.
-The Spartans are coming off a split with Marian University (Wis.) last weekend.
-Sophomore Nicole McKernan leads the Spartans with 10 goals and 12 points.
-Freshman Taylor Sims and Sadie Parton lead the team with five assists each.
-Sophomore Chiara Pfosi has played most the minutes in net for the Spartans compiling a 4-10-1 record with a 2.96 GAA and a .925 save percentage.
-Aurora is averaging 1.67 goals per game, while surrendering 2.86.
-Aurora is only being outshot by opponents by a combined 25 shots this season.
-The Spartans are 4-1-1 when scoring first and 2-11-1 when allowing the first goal.
 
Series Record: CSS leads 2-0 (Last Meeting: 6-1 CSS – 1/17/2018)
 
Series History: CSS swept the first and only series between these two teams with a combined score of 14-3 last season in Duluth.
 
Looking Ahead: The Saints will jump out of the NCHA play for the final time this season as they will head across the bridge for a border battle with the University of Wisconsin-Superior on Tuesday. Puck drop is scheduled for 7 p.m.
