Women’s Hockey Welcomes Aurora this Weekend

DULUTH, Minn. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica women's hockey team is at Mars Lakeview Arena again this weekend for a two-game Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA) series against Aurora University (Ill.).

What You Need to Know about the Saints:
-For the first time in program history, the Saints swept a series from Concordia University Wisconsin last weekend.
-CSS scored at least four goals in back-to-back games for the first time since a series sweep of Northland College in mid-November.
-The last time the Saints scored at least four goals in more than two consecutive games was the 2014-15 season.
-Senior Emily Stegora (Red Wing, Minn./Red Wing HS (Minnesota State-Mankato)) has four multiple-goal games thus far this season, the rest of the Saints have two total.
-Stegora is fifth in the NCHA with 12 goals.
-The Saints have recorded a power-play goal in each of the last three games.
-Senior Abby Sawyer (Owatonna, Minn./Owatonna HS) is a point shy of becoming the fifth player in program history to record at least 70 points in a career.
-Sophomore goaltender Lexi Thomeczek (St. Louis, Mo./St. Joseph Academy (St. Louis AAA Blues)) will move into second place all by herself on the program's win list with her next victory.
-The Saints are 8-0-2 when they record the first goal.
-CSS has yet to lose at home this season at 3-0-2.
 
What You Need to Know about Aurora:
-The Spartans enter the weekend with a 3-13-1 overall record and 2-8 in NCHA action.
-The Spartans are in their first year as a program.
-16 freshmen and two sophomores make up the Aurora roster.
-Aurora is coming off a 3-2 win at Trine University (Ind.) on Saturday.
-Two of the three wins have come against Trine with the other coming against Northland College.
-Marissa Dunbar leads the team with four goals and six points.
-Three different Spartans lead the squad with three assists.
-Becca Binder has seen the majority of play in goal and has recorded two of the three wins.
-Aurora has been out-scored 35-5 in the third period.
 
Series Record: 0-0-0
 
Series History: This will be the first-ever meeting between the two programs.
 
Looking Ahead: The Saints will be at Finlandia University (Mich.) for a two-game NCHA series on February 2 and 3.
