MORRIS, Minn. (csssaints.com) - The St. Scholastica women's tennis team had an excellent day on Sunday against the University of Minnesota Morris, winning every match in both the singles and doubles competition for the 9-0 sweep over the Cougars.
Doubles
The No. 1 Saints team of Jessica Solberg (Bemidji, Minn. /Bemidji HS) and Miki Samz (Savage, Minn. /Burnsville HS) defeated their opponents 8-2. Sarah Coryell (Golden Valley, Minn. /Armstrong HS) and Daniela Rojas (Monterrey, Mexico /Universidad Tecmilenio) finished 8-1 in the No. 2 spot, while Syd Holt (Crosslake, Minn. /Pequot Lakes HS) and Taylor Hays (Altoona, Wis. /Altoona HS) took the 8-1 victory playing at No. 3.
Singles
The singles competition was dominated by the Saints as well. Rojas (No. 1) battled to win her match, losing the first set in a teibreaker. She then fought her way back to win the second set 6-4 and the super-breaker 10-3 in what was the closest contest of the day. Coryell swept up in the No. 2 singles spot, going 6-0, 6-0 versus her Cougar opponent, and Samz was right behind her at No. 3, winning 6-0, 6-1. Holt, Hays, and Risako Oya (Chiba, Japan /ShowaGakuin Shuei HS) also took the victories in the No. 4, No. 5, and No. 6 spots.
