DULUTH, Minn. (csssaints.com) -- The St. Scholastica women's tennis team defeated the University of Minnesota Morris Sunday at Arrowhead Tennis Center, extending its winning streak to nine with three 9-0 victories in a row.
Doubles:
Two doubles teams swept their matches.
Elise Hauer (Duluth, Minn. /Duluth East HS) and
Daniela Rojas (Monterrey, Mexico /Universidad Tecmilenio) at the No. 1 spot and
Kelly Neil (Mora, Minn. /Mora HS) and
Moriah Branick (Eau Claire, Wis. /Eau Claire Regis HS) at No. 3 were victorious with scores of 8-0.
The No. 2 team,
Katelyn Rice (Eveleth, Minn. /Eveleth-Gilbert HS) and
Alexia Brascugli (Eveleth, Minn. /Eveleth-Gilbert HS), dropped only one game for a final score of 8-1.
Singles:
The Saints won three singles matches by 6-0, 6-0 scores. These winners were
Sarah Coryell (Golden Valley, Minn. /Armstrong HS) (No. 4),
Risako Oya (Chiba, Japan /ShowaGakuin Shuei HS) (No. 5) and
Taylor Hays (Altoona, Wis. /Altoona HS) (No. 6).
At the No. 1 spot,
Jessica Solberg (Bemidji, Minn. /Bemidji HS) defeated her Cougar opponent 6-2, 7-5.
Madeleine Scanlan (St. Albans, England /Loreto College) (No. 2) outscored her opponent 6-1, 6-1. Â Dropping only one game, Rojas (No. 3) was successful by a score of 6-1, 6-0.
