DULUTH, Minn. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica women's tennis team defeated Concordia College-Moorhead by a final score of 9-0 Sunday morning at Arrowhead Tennis Center.
DoublesIt was a clean sweep in doubles for the Saints with each pairing showing a strong effort.
Jessica Solberg (Bemidji, Minn. /Bemidji HS) and
Madeleine Scanlan (St. Albans, England /Loreto College) defeated their opponents in match one by a final score of 8-1, while
Sarah Coryell (Golden Valley, Minn. /Armstrong HS) and
Elise Hauer (Duluth, Minn. /Duluth East HS) won their match 8-2.
In the third doubles match,
Alexia Brascugli (Eveleth, Minn. /Eveleth-Gilbert HS) and
Katelyn Rice (Eveleth, Minn. /Eveleth-Gilbert HS) completed the sweep with an impressive 8-1 victory of their own.
SinglesSt. Scholastica also swept each singles match against the Cobbers with no match making it outside the second game.
Solberg and Scanlan won their matches 6-1, 6-0, and 6-2, 6-2 respectively, while Hauer won her match 6-2, 7-5.
Coryell, Rice, and Brascugli also won their matches in two games with Brascugli winning each set 6-0, 6-0 in a dominating effort.
Up NextSt. Scholastica (5-3) has a slight layoff before its next match. The Saints have a scheduled spring break trip to Orlando, Florida where they will play four matches beginning on March 20
and ending on March 22.
