csssaints.com) – After defeating intracity rival University of Minnesota-Duluth late last night, the St. Scholastica women's tennis team responded again on Saturday with a 9-0 win over North Central University to open Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) play.
Doubles:The No. 1 team of
Jessica Solberg (Bemidji, Minn. /Bemidji HS) and
Madeleine Scanlan (St. Albans, England /Loreto College), along with the No. 3 team of
Moriah Branick (Eau Claire, Wis. /Eau Claire Regis HS) and
Taylor Hays (Altoona, Wis. /Altoona HS), both won 8-0.
The No. 2 duo of
Elise Hauer (Duluth, Minn. /Duluth East HS) and
Katelyn Rice (Eveleth, Minn. /Eveleth-Gilbert HS) won by an 8-1 score.
Singles:Solberg at No. 1, Hauer at No. 2,
Sarah Coryell (Golden Valley, Minn. /Armstrong HS) at No. 4 and
Kelly Neil (Mora, Minn. /Mora HS) at No. 5 all won by 6-0, 6-0 scores.
Daniela Rojas (Monterrey, Mexico /Universidad Tecmilenio) won her match at the No. 3 spot 6-0, 6-1.
Risako Oya (Chiba, Japan /ShowaGakuin Shuei HS) was the final winner of the day at the No. 6 spot by a 6-1, 6-0 tally.
