DULUTH, Minn. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica women's tennis team will be making its fourth NCAA Division III Tournament appearance on Friday when it faces Whitman College (Wash.).

The Saints finished runner-up in the UMAC Tournament last weekend, falling to regular season champion University of Northwestern 6-3 in the tournament championship … The Saints defeated Martin Luther College 8-1 in the tournament semifinals on Friday.
 
Five Saints Named All-UMAC: Senior Alexis Gunderson (Virginia, Minn./Virginia HS), junior Katie Kingston (Virginia, Minn./Virginia HS), sophomores Miki Samz (Savage, Minn. /Burnsville HS) and Madeleine Scanlan (St. Albans, England /Loreto College) and freshman Daniela Rojas (Monterrey, Mexico /Universidad Tecmilenio) were named to the All-UMAC team on Tuesday.
 
No UMAC Titles: For the first time since joining the UMAC in 1997, the Saints did not capture a UMAC regular season or postseason tournament title.
 
Gunderson Closing Out a Career: Alexis Gunderson (Virginia, Minn./Virginia HS) is a four-time All-UMAC selection for the Saints … She is the seventh player in program history to record at least 50 career singles victories and the fifth player to record at least 50 doubles victories … Gunderson is tied for the second-most total wins in program history (106).
 
No Sophomore Slump: Sophomore Miki Samz (Savage, Minn. /Burnsville HS) has stepped up this season for the Saints, recording 12 singles wins and a team-high 15 doubles victories … In her freshman season, Samz played in only two singles matches and was 5-1 in doubles play.
 
Singles Play: Freshman Sarah Coryell (Golden Valley, Minn. /Armstrong HS) leads the team with 16 singles wins this season with eight coming at the No. 5 flight … CSS is 82-56 in singles play this season.
 
Doubles Action: The No. 1 doubles team of Daniela Rojas (Monterrey, Mexico /Universidad Tecmilenio) and Scanlan has won 14 matches this season … Gunderson and Samz have won eight matches as a team … The Saints are 45-24 in doubles play this season.
 
NCAA Tournament History: The Saints qualified for the NCAA Division III Tournament for three straight seasons from 2007 thru 2009 … CSS is 1-3 all-time in the NCAA Tournament with its lone win coming against Luther College (Iowa) 2009.
