DULUTH, Minn. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica women's tennis team swept Martin Luther College 9-0 for the second time in seven days on Saturday at the Arrowhead Tennis Center.
Doubles:The No. 1 team of
Madeleine Scanlan (St. Albans, England /Loreto College) and
Daniela Rojas (Monterrey, Mexico /Universidad Tecmilenio), as well as, the No. 2 duo of
Miki Samz (Savage, Minn. /Burnsville HS) and
Katie Kingston (Virginia, Minn./Virginia HS) won by the same 8-3 score. The No. 3 tandem of
Alexia Brascugli (Eveleth, Minn. /Eveleth-Gilbert HS) and
Olivia Bretting (Ashland, Wis. /Ashland HS ) won 8-5.
Singles:Samz (No. 3) gave up only one game in a 6-1, 6-0 victory.
Sarah Coryell (Golden Valley, Minn. /Armstrong HS) (No. 4) cruised to a 6-1, 6-1 win. Scanlan (No. 1) and Brascugli (No. 5) both came out on top by scores of 6-2, 6-1.
Halle Nystrom (Fargo, N.D. /Fargo North HS) (No. 6) won by those same scores, except the other way around 6-1, 6-2. The final winner was Rojas (No. 2) by scores of 6-2, 7-5.
