Notables-CSS is 21-6 in doubles action this spring-Saint Mary's has won three straight against the Saints.
ORLANDO, Fla. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica women's tennis team was defeated by Saint Mary's College (Ind.) 6-3 on Monday morning.
The Saints got off to a good start, winning two of the three doubles matches. The No. 1 team of
Madeleine Scanlan (St. Albans, England /Loreto College) and
Daniela Rojas (Monterrey, Mexico /Universidad Tecmilenio) won 8-4. The No. 2 team of
Alexis Gunderson (Virginia, Minn./Virginia HS) and
Sarah Coryell (Golden Valley, Minn. /Armstrong HS) won in a tiebreaker 9-8 (9-7).
The Belles would take five of the six singles matches. Coryell (No. 5) was the lone singles winner for the Saints, winning in a super-breaker 5-7, 6-2 (10-6).
The Saints (6-3) will be in action again on Wednesday when it takes on Berry College (Ga.) and Haverford College (Pa.) to wrap up action in Florida.
