Women's Tennis Loses First Match of Season

-St. Olaf improves to 3-0 all-time against the Saints.
 
VIRGINIA, Minn. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica women's tennis team dropped its first match this season to St. Olaf College by a score of 8-1 on Saturday at Quad Cities Tennis.
 
The Saints dropped two of the three doubles matches. The No. 1 team of Madeleine Scanlan (St. Albans, England /Loreto College) and Daniela Rojas (Monterrey, Mexico /Universidad Tecmilenio) lost 8-4. The No. 2 duo of Alexis Gunderson (Virginia, Minn./Virginia HS) and Katie Kingston (Virginia, Minn./Virginia HS) dropped their match 8-6. The No. 3 team of Miki Samz (Savage, Minn. /Burnsville HS) and Alexia Brascugli (Eveleth, Minn. /Eveleth-Gilbert HS) pulled through for a win by a score of 9-7.
 
CSS then dropped all six singles matches. Scanlan played in the No. 2 spot for the Saints and played the closest match. After winning the first set, she fell in super-breaker 3-6, 6-1, 1-0 (10-7). All of the other matches were won in straight sets by the Oles (2-0).
 
The Saints (4-1) will be in action next Friday in Duluth at the Arrowhead Tennis Center. The Saints host Ripon College (Wis.) at 5 p.m.
