PREVIEW: Men's Hockey Back in Action this Weekend

DULUTH, Minn. (csssaints.com) – After a weekend off, the No. 13 St. Scholastica men's hockey team gets back on the ice this weekend when it opens Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA) play at Lake Forest College (Ill.).

Last Action: The Saints came back to tie then No. 9 University of Wisconsin-River Falls 3-3 to open the season on October 30 and then defeated the University of Wisconsin-Stout the next day 4-1 … CSS scored three goals in the final 4:23 of the third period to come from behind twice and force overtime against the Falcons … Tyler Bruggeman (North Mankato, Minn./Mankato West HS (Austin-NAHL) ) then had to stop a penalty shot in overtime to preserve the tie … Keegan Bruce (Bellingham, Wash./Bellingham HS (Weyburn-SJHL) ) had two goals in the victory over UW-Stout, which saw the Saints score all four of their goals on the power-play.
 
Bruggeman Player of the Week: Senior goaltender Tyler Bruggeman (North Mankato, Minn./Mankato West HS (Austin-NAHL) ) was named the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA) Defensive Player of the Week on November 3 for leading the Saints to undefeated opening weekend … Bruggeman also recorded an assist in the victory over UW-Stout, his second of his career.
 
Added a 25th Game: The Saints have added a 25th regular season game this year as it will travel to UW-Stout on Tuesday, January 19.
 
Power-Play: With the small sample size, the Saints lead the conference with a 30.8 percent success rate on the power-play … On the other side, Lake Forest is at the bottom of the league at 0-for-16 on the power-play.
