PREVIEW: Softball to Play UMAC Crossover this Weekend

DULUTH, Minn. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica softball team will take part in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) Crossover at the Vadnais Heights Sports Center on Saturday and Sunday.
Game Schedule:
Saturday vs. Crown – 2 p.m.
Saturday vs. Bethany Lutheran – 6 p.m. (UMAC Game of the Week)
Sunday vs. Martin Luther – Noon
Sunday vs. Minnesota Morris – 2 p.m.
Bethany Lutheran College Vikings Record: 1-15 (0-1 UMAC) Head Coach: Renee Tatge | -The Vikings got their first win of the year and snapped a 13-game losing streak with 1-0 win over Finlandia way back on March 19th.
-Bethany Lutheran was swept in a doubleheader on Wednesday at Martin Luther.
-Rebecca Ludewig leads the team batting wise with a .406 batting average, as well as having the team's only home run this season and four RBIs.
-Gena Chester and Amanda Berthusen also have four RBIs this season.
-Alison Songstad has the only win pitching wise for the Vikings. Songstad is 1-5 with a 7.99 ERA and 10 strikeouts.
-The Vikings are the defending UMAC Tournament champions and are picked to finish second in the league this season, according to the preseason coaches' poll.
University of Minnesota Morris Cougars Record: 5-9 (0-0 UMAC) Head Coach: Heather Pennie | -The Cougars are coming off a doubleheader that resulted in a split against Concordia College-Moorhead.
-Molly Olson and Kristy Hoge lead the team in RBIs at five apiece.
-Jordan Iverson has the only home run for the Cougars this season.
-Alex Anderson has seven stolen bases this season, which is tied for tops in the UMAC.
-Sam Hanson is first in the conference in wins with four so far. Hanson also has a 4.02 ERA, which is third in the conference.
-Fellow pitcher Mackenzie Weatherly has a 3.92 ERA, which is tops in the UMAC. She also has 33 strikeouts, which is second in the conference.
