Game 1
CSS 5, North Central 1

The first game was relatively quiet with the Saints coming out on top by a score of 5-1.

After a scoreless first inning, the Saints got the first runs of the game in the second. Hannah Borgeson (Woodville, Wis./Baldwin-Woodville HS) started the inning off with a single to left field and would advance to second on a wild pitch during the next Saints' at-bat. Chrisi Mizera (Frankfort, Ill./Lincoln-Way East HS) would then draw a walk to set up Shauney Moen (Oak Grove, Minn./St. Francis HS) for an RBI single to bring in Borgeson to get the Saints on the board. Becca Zwak (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS) followed that up with a single to second to load the bases. With the bases loaded, Tiff Hudack (Ashland, Wis./Ashland HS) would reach on a fielder's choice to score Mizera to give the Saints a 2-0 lead going into the third inning.

In the third inning, the Saints would tack on a couple more runs on the scoreboard. Nikki Logergren (Duluth, Minn./Duluth Denfeld HS (Northern Stars)) hit a lead-off single through the right side with Kasandra McCabe (St. Peter, Minn./St. Peter HS) bringing her home on a double to center field. After McCabe advanced to third on a wild pitch, Borgeson hit a sacrifice fly to left field to score McCabe and make the score 4-0.

North Central would get a run back in the top of the fourth inning but wouldn't get anymore while leaving a couple runners on base.

The Saints offense cooled down a little bit until the sixth inning with Kara Warren (Duluth, Minn./Duluth Denfeld HS) reaching first on a throwing error, which resulted in Rendi Johnson (Bonney Lake, Wash./Bonney Lake HS) scoring to make the score 5-1 and give the win to the Saints.

Johnson got the win for the Saints, pitching all seven innings and striking out three batters.

Game 2
CSS 20, North Central 0

The Saints bats would catch fire quickly and often in the second game, scoring four or more runs in every inning en route to a 20-0 win in five innings.

The Saints got going right away with a lead-off single through the left side from Hudack, who would then steal second base during the next at-bat. Warren would then bring Hudack in on a double to center field for the first run of the game. After Logergren reached first on a fielding error, Molly Jazdzewski (Duluth, Minn./Duluth Central HS) would send a shot to right center field for a triple that scored Logergren and Warren. Emily Schiro (Brooklyn Park, Minn./Armstrong HS) followed that up with a walk and would steal second to set up Chrisi Mizera (Frankfort, Ill./Lincoln-Way East HS) for a two-RBI single to center field which brought in Jazdzewski and Schiro to score as that would end the scoring for the inning and give the Saints an early 5-0 lead.

The second inning was a lot of the same for the Saints as they put up seven more runs. Johnson got it started with a double to left field, which was followed by back-to-back walks from Warren and Logergren to load the bases. The next batter, Jazdzewski, would also walk to bring in Johnson to score. Emily Schiro (Brooklyn Park, Minn./Armstrong HS) would then reach on a fielder's choice and Warren would score on a throwing error by the Rams. Mizera then brought in Logergren to score on an RBI single to second base, which was followed by a two-RBI single from Sydney Gordon (International Falls, Minn./Falls HS) to score Jazdzewski and Schiro. Micah McGuiness (Forest Lake, Minn./Forest Lake HS) then hit a single to left center field to bring in Mizera. Zwak capped off the scoring for the inning with a single to left field to score Gordon. The Saints would have a 12-0 lead going into the third inning.

In the third inning, Ashley Boone (Duluth, Minn./Duluth Denfeld HS) would reach on a fielder's choice that was followed up by a single up the middle from Schiro. That all set up Mizera for a three-run blast to center field to make the score 15-0. Cayla Fogle (Oakdale, Minn./St. Croix Lutheran HS) would get the action going again for the Saints with a single down the left field line, with McGuiness getting a single of her own up the middle. Borgeson would then bring in Fogle on a single to right field to end the scoring for the Saints in the inning.

The Saints' offensive onslaught would not stop in the fourth inning as they put up four more runs in the fourth inning. Moen led off the inning with a single up the middle with Schiro reaching first on the next at-bat. Mizera would then bring in Moen to score with an RBI single through the left side with Fogle following that up by reaching first on a throwing error from the Rams that would help bring in Schiro to score. After a McGuiness walk, Zwak would hit an RBI single to left field that would bring in Mizera. The Saints' final run of the game came on a wild pitch as Fogle would come in to score and make the final score 20-0.

Mizera led the Saints at the plate as well as on the mound. She was four-for-four with a home run and seven RBIs and she also pitched all five innings while striking out 11 and giving up only two hits.

The Saints' next action will be on Tuesday as they head down to Minneapolis to take on Northwestern in a doubleheader that is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m.
