PREVIEW: Softball to Host Mini-Crossover on Tuesday

DULUTH, Minn. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica softball team will host four games and three other teams on Tuesday on Saints Field. First game is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m.
The games were originally scheduled for Ashland, but Northland's field is still not playable.
Game Schedule:
Tuesday
10 a.m. - North Central vs. Northland
Noon - Northwestern vs. Northland
2 p.m. - North Central vs. St. Scholastica
4 p.m. - Northwestern vs. St. Scholastica
Wednesday
3 p.m. - St. Scholastica at Northland (DH)
University of Northwestern Eagles Record: 13-16 (9-5 UMAC) Head Coach: Alicia Du'Monceaux | -The Eagles have won five of their last six games, including a sweep of Bethany Lutheran on Friday.
-Northwestern has a .527 slugging percentage in its wins this season and only a .313 percentage in its losses.
-Freshman Jennifer Ankrom leads the conference with a .506 batting average and 36 RBIs.
-In fact, the team's top three hitters are all freshmen. Ankrom and fellow freshman Kaylee Forcier each have three home runs to lead the team. Freshman Megan Threlkeld has a team-high 12 extra-base hits.
-The pitching staff has struggled with a team ERA of 6.27. The Eagles have only 46 strikeouts and have allowed 65 walks. Opponents are hitting 3.63 against the Eagles.
Series History: (CSS is 41-9 vs. Northland) -The Saints won their only two home games of the 2013 season against the Jills at the end of the regular season. |
