ORLANDO, Fla. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica women's tennis team blanked Cornell College (Iowa) 9-0 on Sunday to open its spring break trip.
Singles began action in today's dual.
Alexis Gunderson (Virginia, Minn./Virginia HS) in the No. 1 spot won by default.
Pamela Hartley (Lima, Peru/Franklin Roosevelt College) continued the trend at No. 5 and defeated Dana Dowell 6-0, 6-1. Next in the No. 4 spot,
Aleksandra Ochrymowicz (Winnipeg, Manitoba/St. Mary’s Academy) dominated Heather Schrauth 6-0, 6-0.
Kelsey Geiger (Champlin, Minn./Champlin Park HS) next beat Reidel 6-0, 6-1 in the No. 6 spot.
Following was
Jessica Solberg (Bemidji, Minn. /Bemidji HS), in the No. 3 spot who beat Seng 6-1, 6-1.
Madeleine Scanlan (St. Albans, England /Loreto College) finished up singles play for the Saints in the No. 2 spot defeating Moll 6-3, 6-2.
On the doubles side, the Saints took charge starting with an 8-2 win by
Allie Carlson (Aitkin, Minn./Aitkin HS) and
Katie Kingston (Virginia, Minn./Virginia HS) over Cornell's Dowell and Reidel in the No. 3 spot.
Scanlan and
Alexa Herbst (Foley, Minn. /Foley HS) followed suit in the No. 2 spot winning 8-0 over Seng and Natalue Nish of Cornell.
The No. 1 doubles team of Gunderson and Solberg were challenged, but came out on top winning 9-7 over Ariana Hudson and Shashanna Moll.
The Saints were also scheduled to face Saint Ambrose today, but flight problems with Saint Ambrose postponed that match. A make-up has not been determined. Next the Saints (5-4) are scheduled to take on Saint Mary's (Ind.) tomorrow.
