PREVIEW: Softball Headed to Iowa this Weekend

DULUTH, Minn. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica softball team will play four games this weekend down in Iowa, including two contests against nationally-ranked opponents on Saturday.
Game Schedule:
Saturday vs. #23 Washington-St. Louis – 11 a.m. (Pella, Iowa)
Saturday vs. #12 Central – 3 p.m. (Pella, Iowa)
Sunday vs. UW-Eau Claire – 10 a.m. (Oskaloosa, Iowa)
Sunday vs. Dubuque – Noon (Oskaloosa, Iowa)
***Note: Monday's Conference Home Opener vs. Northland has been postponed to a later date.***
#12 Central College Dutch
Record: 12-4 (0-0 IIAC)
Head Coach: George Wares | -Central comes in ranked 12th in the NFCA Division III poll.
-Following a three-game losing streak, the Dutch has won six of their last seven games.
-Junior Whitney Sowers leads the Dutch with a .591 batting average in 44 at bats and a .909 slugging percentage.
-Senior Anne Sarcone has the most RBIs for the Dutch with 22 so far in the season.
-The Dutch are ranked seventh in the nation in stolen bases per game (3.25).
-Sophomore Trisha Smith has pitched 44.2 innings with an ERA of 0.42.
-The Dutch pitching staff has only allowed 19 walks and put away 81 strikeouts.

Head Coach: Wendi Wipperfurth | -After starting the season 5-0, Dubuque is 3-4 in its last seven games.
-The Spartans have a team batting average of .328 and are ranked 15th in the country in home runs per game (0.83).
-Junior Hannah Koerperich after 33 at bats has a batting average of .455 and a slugging percentage of .909.
-The Spartans have left 80 runners on base so far this season.
