Men's Track & Field Competes at Home

DULUTH, Minn. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica men's track & field team hosted the 2014 Lake Superior Challenge Saturday in the Burns Wellness Fieldhouse.

Zach Visina (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS) won the high jump, clearing 6'0" (1.83m). Corey Anderson (Duluth, Minn./Hermantown HS) won the triple jump with a mark of 42'9" (13.03m).

Alex Horoshak (Two Harbors, Minn./Two Harbors HS) and Anderson went two, three in the long jump. Horoshak's mark was 20'5.75" (6.24m), while Anderson's was 20'2.25" (6.15m). Luke McKenzie (Taylors Falls, Minn./Chisago Lakes HS) was second in the 3000m run, finishing in 9:04.55. Ryan Guentzel (Two Harbors, Minn./Two Harbors HS) was also second in the 400m dash with a time of 53.57.

Charlie Fernow (North Branch, Minn./North Branch HS) was runner-up in the weight throw with a toss of 49'2.25" (14.99m), while Jeremy Peterson (Hermantown, Minn./Hermantown HS) placed third in the shot put with a mark of 46'7.25" (14.20m). Aaron Egelkraut (Forest Lake, Minn./Forest Lake HS) was third in the 60m hurdles, posting a time of 9.02. Josh Simmons (Houston, Texas/Jack Yates HS) was also third in the 60m dash with a time of 7.27. Mike Naumann (Poplar, Wis./Northwestern HS) was fourth in the 200m dash with a time of 23.70.

Some Saints will be across the bridge next Saturday at the Yellowjacket Open, hosted by UW-Superior, while others will be at the Minnesota State Open in Mankato.
