MSU Open Results
DULUTH, Minn. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica men's track & field team competed at both the Yellowjacket Open in Superior and the Minnesota State Open in Mankato on Saturday.
Yellowjacket Open
Corey Anderson (Duluth, Minn./Hermantown HS) won the triple jump and the high jump, breaking program records in each event. His triple jump mark was 44'8.75" (13.63m). He cleared a height 6'5" (1.96m) in the high jump.
Mike Naumann (Poplar, Wis./Northwestern HS) set the program record and won the 200m hurdles, posting a time of 25.12.
Kevin Wagner (Cleveland, Minn./Cleveland HS) placed second and also broke the old program mark at 25.48.
Riley Niebuhr (Wells, Minn./United South Central HS (Minn.-Duluth)) and
Travis Ambuehl (Lake Linden, Mich./Lake Linden-Hubbell HS) placed second and third, respectively, in the pole vault. Both cleared 14'2" (4.32m). Wagner was third in the long jump with a leap of 19'10.75" (6.06m).
Jeremy Peterson (Hermantown, Minn./Hermantown HS) placed second in the shot put with a toss of 47'10" (14.58m).
Charlie Fernow (North Branch, Minn./North Branch HS) was third in the weight throw with a mark of 52'2.75" (15.92m).
MSU Open
The Minnesota State Open consisted of mostly Division II programs. Just six Saints competed in Mankato.
Luke McKenzie (Taylors Falls, Minn./Chisago Lakes HS) placed second in the 800m run, posting a time of 1:56.65.
Charlie Habermann (Proctor, Minn./Proctor HS) was also runner-up in the 5000m run with a time of 16:00.37.
Josh Simmons (Houston, Texas/Jack Yates HS) finished fifth in the 60m dash with a time of 7.07.
The Saints will host the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) Indoor Championships next Saturday in the Burns Wellness Fieldhouse. Action is slated to begin at noon.
