Box Score RIVER FALLS, Wis. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica women's hockey team was defeated in game two against fifth ranked UW-River Falls of this weekend's Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA) series by a score of 5-2 Saturday afternoon.
The opening period was full of goals from both squads, as the Falcons struck first on the power play eight minutes into the period. CSS would answer back with a power play goal of its own, with
Itsuki Baba (Tokyo, Japan/Montrose Chirstian School (Washington D.C. Pride)) netting a goal 36 seconds after the UWRF goal.
Michelle Fischer (St. Paul, Minn./Cretin-Derham Hall) and
Nina Waidacher (Arosa, Switzerland/Wirtschaftschule KV Chur (ZSC Lions/Swiss U18 National)) would assist on the goal for the Saints.
River Falls would score a goal with 34 seconds remaining in the opening period to hold a 2-1 lead over the Saints heading into the first intermission.
The Falcons would net two more goals in the second period while the Saints were held scoreless in the frame. The Saints would trail 4-1 heading into the second intermission.
The final period saw UWRF score on the power play once again, just five minutes into the period. CSS would score at the 16:46 mark of the period off of a Waidacher power play goal. Fischer would assist on the goal, her 26
th of the year.
Unfortunately the Saints were unable to the find the back of the net for the remainder of the game and fell 5-2 in the team's last road series of the regular season.
UW-River Falls (16-4-2, 14-2-2 NCHA) was able to hold a 43-21 shot advantage on the Saints. UWRF finished the game 2-for-3 on the power play while being penalized five times for 10 minutes.
Teraysa White (Belgrade, Maine/Brewster Academy (New England College)) stopped 38 shots on the afternoon for the Saints who were 2-for-5 on the power play while being penalized three times for six minutes.
St. Scholastica (10-9-4, 7-8-3 NCHA) will host Marian University this coming weekend in the team's final home series of the regular season. First action is slated to begin at 7 p.m. Friday night. Tune into csssaints.com for live broadcast of the game.
