Box Score RIVER FALLS, Wis. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica women's hockey team was able to jump out to a 2-0 lead in the opening period, but a 52 shot barrage by the UW-River Falls Falcons was too much for CSS as the Saints fell 5-3 in game one of the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA) series Friday night in River Falls.

The opening period was all CSS as the Saints' Nina Waidacher (Arosa, Switzerland/Wirtschaftschule KV Chur (ZSC Lions/Swiss U18 National)) opened up the scoring with a goal at the 13:44 mark of the period.  Michelle Fischer (St. Paul, Minn./Cretin-Derham Hall) assisted on the goal, her 24th of the year.  Just 14 seconds later Monika Waidacher (Arosa, Switzerland/Wirtschaftsschule KV Chur (Swiss National Team)) would tally a goal of her own with the assist going to her sister Nina.  The Saints would head into the first intermission up 2-0 on the scoreboard.

Period two saw the Falcons scored a short-handed goal about five minutes into the period.  UWRF would score again to tie the score up at the 11:49 mark.  It would be an even strength goal.  The Falcons and Saints would head into the second intermission knotted up 2-2.

The final period was full of goals, with the first one coming by a UWRF goal just 15 seconds into the period on the power-play.  The Saints would answer two minutes later with a goal by Fischer.  Both Waidacher sisters would assist on the goal.

UWRF would score at the 6:54 mark to go up 4-3, then at the 14:36 mark would put the game on ice with an even strength goal.  The Falcons would go onto defeat the Saints 5-3.
